How do you get rid of termites in a commercial building?

Presto Answers

What is the best approach to getting rid of termites in a commercial setting?

Termites in any building are a serious problem that requires a structured, professional response. Unlike a residential property, a commercial facility often has a larger footprint, more complex infrastructure, and operational pressures that make treatment planning more involved.

The right approach depends on the type of termite, the extent of the infestation, and the layout of your building. That's why a professional termite inspection always comes first.

Treatment options for commercial termite control

Once the technicians have conducted a thorough inspection, depending on the type of termite issue, they may use one or more of the following termite treatment methods.

  • Termite baiting systems - Termite baiting systems are placed in the ground around the perimeter of the building. Baiting is discreet, minimally disruptive, and well-suited to busy commercial environments.

  • Liquid soil treatment - A conventional termite treatment involves applying a liquid barrier to the soil around and beneath the building's foundation. This creates a treated zone that termites cannot cross without being affected.

  • Spot treatment  - Spot treatments target localized termite activity inside your building(s), and may involve drilling directly into affected wood structures to eliminate specific infestations.

  • Structural fumigation - For severe or widespread drywood termite infestations, structural fumigation may be the most effective option. It requires advance planning and temporary closure of the entire building, but it can address infestations that other methods cannot reach.
